Head of Para Jiu Jitsu Development: Nigel Davidson
Nigel Davidson is a 44 years old Brown Belt who trains under Prof. Kev Capel at the Roger Gracie Academy. He is a below-knee congenital amputee with a loss to his left leg and amputation of fingers on his left hand.
He started training in MMA in 2008 and in 2010 started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He went on to receive his Blue Belt in 2011 and competed in able-bodied BJJ Competitions multiple times during his progression to Brown Belt.
He was awarded his Brown Belt in 2018 and during that year Nigel had competed in his first NOGI competition at the Armed Forces event winning a bronze medal. He then competed in his first Para BJJ competition at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam event in London.
Nigel is looking forward to working with the UAEJJF in promoting the development of Para Jiu Jitsu in the UK. He will be supporting injured ex-military veterans in using Jiu Jitsu as a rehabilitation aid. Additionally, he will promote the accessibility of Jiu Jitsu to all people with a disability.
